About this opportunity from BATIAS

BATIAS provides an advocacy service to people with a learning disability. Our Self Advocacy groups support people to learn skills on how to speak up for themselves as well as an opportunity to socialise. Trustees are asked to attend meetings every 6-8 weeks, having read the paperwork which is sent out one week prior to the meeting. Our meetings can be joined remotely via Zoom or attended in person. During the meetings trustees take part in discussions and make joint decisions on the strategic development of the Organisation. Trustees have a role of governance for the Organisation ensuring that the service meets its objectives and contractual agreements.

Reasons to become a BATIAS Trustee. You will:

• help to support and develop the work, operational processes and long-term future of BATIAS

• put your existing skills and experience to good use as part of a team.

• meet new people.

• learn new skills that could help build your CV, or just add to your experience or confidence in certain areas.

• make a difference to vulnerable people in your local area

Like many charities BATIAS is facing funding cuts and has had to make some difficult decisions in the past 4 years, we are now looking to re-develop our services and are looking at alternative funding options to take BATIAS into a more financially secure future. If you want to be involved with a worthwhile cause and know that you are making a difference to the lives of people with a learning disability, please contact the volunteer centre.
