Bouldering Together Volunteer
Come and help us provide a safe space for our young people to have fun whilst bouldering. You don't have to join them on the wall, just be there to support them.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
A keen interest in working with young people and supporting them with issues they face, in a kind, empathetic and non-judgemental way.
Active listening skills and knowledge around the current difficulties young people experience, will be helpful.
The volunteer can climb alongside young people, but this is not mandatory.
The Volunteer will be required to:
· Undergo recruitment checks including references and a DBS check
· Participate in a Volunteer induction and Mandatory training
· Report issues, concerns and successes to project staff
· Work with the team to improve outcomes
Session and locations:
Shift /Hours/ Days : Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays 4pm-6pm
Location: Indirock, first floor of the Victoria Shopping Centre, Southend, SS2 5SP
Reports to: Children, Youth and Families (CYF) Team Manager
AIM OF BOULDERING TOGETHER
To support and nurture young people with mental health challenges who are at risk of engaging in anti-social behaviour, providing listening support and guidance for young people.
To offer a fun, non-clinical safe space to empower young people to engage in positive, meaningful activity in the form of indoor bouldering with support from trained Indirock professionals.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:
· To volunteer with young people, some of whom may need additional support.
· Supervise and support the delivery of activities for young people, especially practical tasks, within a supportive environment.
· Provide direction and support for young people involved in the Bouldering Together session.
· Taking part in appropriate training and development activities.
· Notify staff if you are unable to attend your regular session.
· Ensure Health and Safety regulations are adhered to in line with Trust Links Health and Safety policy.
· Ensure Safeguarding requirements are met in line with Trust Links Safeguarding policy and escalate concerns about the wellbeing of service users to appropriate staff members.
· Maintain confidentiality.
· Raise any issues affecting young people with appropriate staff member.
· Feedback to staff relevant information relating to young peoples’ progress.
· Report issues, concerns and successes to project staff.
· Work with the team to improve outcomes and wellbeing for project members and the broader community.
