Coffee Group Facilitator
Have you had previous experience of dealing with mental health issues? Become a coffee group facilitator and provide a friendly, non-judgmental space for people to talk and feel heard.
About this opportunity from Reach Out For Mental Health
Reach Out for Mental Health (ROFMH) is a suicide prevention service supporting individuals living with suicidal thoughts. It offers individuals an opportunity to talk about what they’re going through. This could be recent events or things from the past. We know sometimes talking can be difficult, we also know it can really help.
ROFMH are looking for a number of group facilitators to operate coffee groups across Essex. Specifically, we’re looking at Chelmsford, Thurrock, Southend and Harlow but if you’re looking at facilitating a group in another area within Essex please get in touch. We offer professional training, clinical supervision, funded DBS and the support of our volunteer coordinator.
ROFMH currently operate 2 successful coffee afternoons in Colchester and Heybridge but we would love to see a group in every town across Essex. The groups offer peer support in a friendly, non-judgmental, safe space for people to talk and feel heard.
This would be an ideal opportunity for someone who has experience of these issues themselves and is looking to “give back” whilst gaining valuable experience of running a support group, or possibly someone who is working/training in the field of mental health.
We have a maximum of 6 people attending each group per facilitator, ideally we ask for two facilitators per group so if you have a friend who may want to join you to run a group, please get in touch!
There will be two online information sessions to find out more about the role and the Charity. You only need to attend one. They take place on Tuesday 15th October from 6-7pm and Wednesday 16th October 12-1pm. Please email us at info@reachoutfmh.co.uk and request a link for the time you’d like to attend.
Training for the role takes place on Saturday 19th October 2024 online between 10am-4pm. A link will be sent to you AFTER you have attended an information session. You will not be able to commence your role as a volunteer without undertaking the training first.
You don’t have to have any previous experience as full training is provided.
However lived experience of mental health issues/suicidal thoughts or previous attempts is preferable.
Volunteering will begin once training is completed.
