About this opportunity from The Southend Hygiene Bank

As a Donation Assistant, you will be at the heart of our charity, ensuring our donations get to those who need them in the community of Southend-on-Sea 🌊
This is a flexible role, perfect for someone looking for occasional opportunities to volunteer – but still looking to make impact πŸ’₯
Here’s how it works πŸ“
1. We get products through donations from the public or from organisations such as Unilever.
2. The Project Co-Ordinator weighs and catalogues the products in the storage unit.
3. We let our community partners know that there is a donation date coming up
4. Our Donation Assistant (this could be you!) is there on the day to give the correct donation boxes to the right community partners. This is also an opportunity to catch up with our community partners (who work directly with those relying on the products) about any events, or other ways we can support
You’ll be making a huge difference. Hygiene poverty is a painful yet frequently forgotten symptom of poverty. The scale of the issue in Southend is massive, with more people than ever needing our support. Every single toothbrush; bottle of aftershave or sanitary pad goes directly to people who need them, but this is not an easy thing to do alone. The Hygiene Bank Southend is currently a team of one, so if you joined you would not only be gaining experience, but increasing the support we can offer to our community πŸ’›

SKILLS

At The Hygiene Bank Southend, we value soft-skills and culture fits first. So if you are worried you do not meet the hard skill requirements, please still apply!

Volunteers should always aim to be empathetic and always willing to learn πŸ’›
Open-minded and inclusive πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ
Good communication skills including but not limited to: honesty, trustworthy, have new ideas πŸ’‘
Basic understanding of maths and weighing (support available with this one) βš–οΈ
Ideally able to drive, and have a vehicle you have access to. Or be within easy travelling distance to the storage unit πŸš—
