Newsletter and Editorial Volunteer
We are looking for a volunteer to help with our magazine. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in journalism, communications, publishing, marketing, or graphic design.
About this opportunity from The Jazz Centre UK
We run a quarterly magazine called *Centrepiece* (view past issues at [https://www.thejazzcentreuk.co.uk/newsletter](https://www.thejazzcentreuk.co.uk/newsletter)). We are looking for someone who can help support editing our magazine using InDesign, help collate articles, and support with bringing new, brilliant content to our audience of 1,200 members. We really want to take our publication to the next level and improve our distribution practices.
Our resident editor, Phil Waterhouse, has been our main support pillar for the magazine for many years, and with the recent positive growth of the centre, we really need more support to ensure its continued success. *Centrepiece* does have a very small budget for articles, but it is currently very much a volunteer-driven initiative. Please do apply if you have ideas that can help us develop the magazine further to increase opportunities!
Beyond the magazine, if you have skills in the Adobe suite, we would also appreciate support with some of our printed flyers and programmes. Julie at Icicle Designs kindly produces our “What’s On” programme, but that means on occasion some adjustments are required when concerts change—or if we need an additional supported A5 flyer for another event. We will appreciate any help with writing, editing, proofreading, content planning, and publication development. The Jazz Centre uses the Adobe Creative Cloud suite to support volunteers in this role, installed on The Jazz Centre main PC, and one remote license.
This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in journalism, communications, publishing, marketing, or graphic design. Even if you can help cover one of these small areas we are interested to hear from you. You will build valuable experience while helping promote a unique cultural charity and bringing your creativity to life so our stories reach the widest possible audience.
Let’s make Centrepiece a great piece of entertainment and information for the UK jazz community together.

Commitment
Fortnightly - Committed and enthusiastic to help produce a quarterly newsletter. It is helpful to have someone local to The Jazz Centre to work directly in-person with our team but this position can be completely remote. Remote positions would be expected to be readily responsive by email and phone for matters around the development of the magazine and other print materials.
