Community Engagement Volunteer
This is a great opportunity to engage with your local community and help promote the work of the FOOD club. Come and tell everyone about our amazing charity and how it can support vulnerable families
About this opportunity from Family Action FOOD Club
We are working in partnership with FareShare to bring Food On Our Doorstep (FOOD) clubs to Southend. FOOD clubs provide healthy food at low cost to people at risk of food insecurity. Club members save money, and by utilising surplus food, the service reduces levels of food waste across the country.
Our FOOD clubs rely on volunteers to keep running, so we can continue to improve life chances and benefit the wellbeing of local families. A Community Engagement Volunteer will promote our work, raise awareness, and distribute information about our service, to help advertise our service to recruit FOOD Club members and volunteers.
A Community Engagement Volunteer role can involve a range of tasks. Training will be provided.
Research and find local community groups, organisations and events that we could approach/attend to share information about FOOD clubs.
Find ways to connect with a diverse range of groups by visiting companies/shops/local groups/schools to recruit volunteers and FOOD club members.
Hand out posters, leaflets or any promotional materials.
Be an ‘Ambassador’ sharing our project and our mission and values at any given opportunity.
Attend events with Family Action networking with other organisations and the public to recruit member and volunteers.
Understand and adhere to all Family Action policies and procedures.
