Community Garden Volunteer
Enjoy the health and wellbeing boost of gardening outdoors while learning how to grow food organically and understand the impact of local produce. Meet lovely people and enjoy our lovely produce.
About this opportunity from Wellbeing at Garons Park
Love the idea of growing your own veg? Keen to get outside, meet new people and help out in a friendly garden space? Is the waiting list for an allotment just too long? We’re after some helping hands to keep our community garden thriving—from weeding and watering to supporting our kitchen and education programmes.
We are looking for volunteers who would like to get outdoors and help us in our community and herb gardens; growing and harvesting produce as required.
Get involved in our garden by planting seeds, watering vegetables, pulling weeds, and keeping the beds in great shape. You’ll help harvest (and enjoy!) delicious seasonal crops while learning more about how food grows. There’s also the chance to turn compost, clean tools, and lend a hand with general site maintenance—don’t worry, you won’t be doing it all alone! We always appreciate extra help at community events and open days too, where your support makes a big difference. Every bit of effort helps keep our garden thriving and welcoming for everyone.
Enjoy the health and wellbeing boost of gardening outdoors while learning how to grow food organically and understand the impact of local produce. You’ll meet lovely people, enjoy a free lunch with contributions made from our garden, and if you stick with us, we’re happy to provide a letter of recommendation to recognise your contribution!
SKILLS
No experience is needed to get involved—our friendly team will show you everything you need to know! All we ask is that you enjoy being outdoors, even if it’s a bit breezy or drizzly, and that you’re happy to work as part of a team and respect our shared space. While the ability to do some manual handling is helpful, we can make accommodations where needed. We’d also love it if you’re open to chatting with the public at community events and fairs to help share our work!
