Location: Growing Together Gardens – Westcliff
Hours: Wednesdays, 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Reports to: Growing Together Team
Purpose of the Role:
To support and empower members in preparing nutritious meals, promoting good food hygiene, and encouraging creativity in the kitchen. Volunteers will work alongside individuals with varying mental health needs in a supportive and inclusive environment.
SKILLS
- Key Responsibilities
- Assist members in preparing healthy lunches for up to 20 people
- Promote food hygiene and kitchen safety
- Coordinate with staff and volunteers to manage supplies
- Encourage members in housekeeping and kitchen tasks
- Attend relevant training and development sessions
- Adhere to Health & Safety and Safeguarding policies
- Report concerns, successes, and issues to staff
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Requirements

- Completion of DBS check, induction, and online safeguarding/food safety training
- Experience in cooking diverse, nutritious meals
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
- Ability to work collaboratively in a busy team environment
