Could you help someone who is facing Court alone – Chelmsford and Southend
Help our clients facing court without legal representation to feel supported and able to face the proceedings. You will be a valuable asset, providing compassion and common sense when needed.
About this opportunity from Support through Court
Volunteers needed in Chelmsford & Southend.
The volunteers at the Support Through Court help those who are facing the court without any legal representation at all. Our clients may need help completing application forms, completing statements, preparing paperwork and even attend the hearing with them for moral support. We can signpost to other organisations as well as help them find legal representation or legal aid if they are eligible.
We speak to clients over the phone and arrange appointments for face-to-face contact with a volunteer who can undertake research for the client’s situation. This will be at our Chelmsford office and our office in Southend on Sea.
We also meet our clients remotely via zoom or skype, which volunteers can do from home. For these we operate a “buddy system” so that it’s not just you alone with a client.
Facing the court alone can be a daunting prospect but we help to reduce the clients stress and can help to make the hearing go smoothly by preparing the client for what to expect.
