Occasional Volunteers – Chelmsford Marathon & Half Marathon

11 October 2026 join us in Chelmsford for our Marathon and half marathon races to help us make the occasion a great day out for both participants and spectators

Volunteer role(s): Route Marshal – Providing encouragement and ensuring the safety of participants along the route.
Baggage – Manage the drop-off and collection area for participants’ belongings.
Water Station Marshal – Keeping runners hydrated by managing water stations.
Finish Line – Handing out medals and water to participants as they cross the finish line.

Please be aware that some roles may involve lifting and moving heavy objects.

SKILLS

Your own transport.

A fully charged mobile phone.
A friendly and helpful disposition. You’ll be someone who enjoys being part of a fun loving team!
You’ll be on the move and outside for the duration of the race.

All our volunteers will be given the equipment they need to help deliver race day. Pre-race instructions will be emailed out in advance and you’ll get a volunteer briefing before the race so you know exactly what to expect from your day. It’s also a great way to meet new people, learn new skills, be part of your local community, build up your confidence and have some fun!
