REMAP is a charity comprising of volunteers who design and make bespoke items of equipment for people experiencing disability when nothing is available commercially. Our branch works with clients across the SS postcode area, we are a small friendly team of around 15 volunteers who meet once a month in Rochford.
The role we are looking to fill is that of a technical writer and administrator. The specific responsibilities will be:
1) To liaise with our designers, craftsmen and engineers, extracting information regarding how they designed and made items of equipment. Then clearly documenting these details and publishing this information on the REMAP website. Examples can be found here https://remap.org.uk/solutions/
2) To help the same group of people document a Risk Assessment for each solution, ensuring these documents get written and approved in a timely manner and then passed to our branch administrator.
Induction and guidance will be provided for both activities.
The ideal candidate will:
– Be comfortable discussing technical detail with designers, engineers and craftsmen.
– Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
– Have experience using Office365 including email, SharePoint, Word and Excel.
– Demonstrate self-motivation and a proactive mindset, with the ability to efficiently follow tasks through to completion, including coordinating with volunteers as necessary.
– Understand the necessity for client confidentiality and be able to keep client data safe and secure.
– Have access to a secure pc and the internet.
– Be able to attend monthly meetings in Rochford (third Monday evening of each month) and ad-hoc Zoom meetings as needed.

There are no set hours for this role apart from attendance of one monthly meeting in Rochford (third Monday evening each month). There is also no specific time commitment; objectives will be clearly set with the volunteer in accordance with the time they are able to dedicate to the role, this may be as little as a few hours per week.
