Telephone Befriender

Do you love having a chat on the phone? Come and join our telephone befriending team, and help brighten the day for our elderly community, who aren't able to get out and about.

About this opportunity from Age Concern

We are looking for Telephone Befrienders to phone an older person in their community who is feeling lonely or isolated. Telephone Befrienders have a chat with the older person once per week for companionship: this involves a call of up to an hour a week so that a friendship can develop. The telephone calls can be made from home, at a regular time each week if possible.  The Befriender can phone one or more people, depending on their availability.  A DBS certificate is required, this is arranged by Age Concern Southend at no cost to the volunteer.

Good listening and communication skills are required.
