About this opportunity from Peaceful Place
This role is very significant, and which is central to the service we offer to our members who are living with early onset Dementia. The transport service enables our members to have independence, support their spouses to continue work and an opportunity to develop new friendships on the drive to and from the centre.
Our volunteer buddies report positively on the friendships they develop with our members and their families and are greeted daily with smiles and a fun journey. The role offers opportunities to be involved in other activities provided in the centre such as arts, music and sports etc. You will be supported in your role by a friendly multi-disciplinary team.
THE ROLE:
To collect adults from their homes, assisting them (if required) to board the minibus.
To follow all relevant council policies including equality, health and safety and the Peaceful Place policy and procedures (training will be given).
Skills
Good communication skills are essential, you must be reliable and trustworthy and be committed to helping the service.
You will need to be patient, kind and understanding and have a friendly caring nature.
Experience of working with people who may be frail, mobility impaired and/or sensory impaired or living with memory loss would be beneficial but not necessary.
Knowledge of the local areas would be beneficial.
Knowledge of first aid and manual handling would be beneficial (training will be provided).
DBS check required – Peaceful Place will apply if required.
Out of pocket expenses will be covered.
