Purpose of the role:
To plan, prepare, and serve nutritious and enjoyable meals for participants and volunteers during a 5-day residential trip in Norfolk for senior and disabled individuals. The cook plays a vital role in ensuring the comfort and wellbeing of everyone on the trip.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan menus in advance, considering dietary needs, preferences and in line with budget provided.
• Prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks for the group
• Ensure meals are balanced, varied, and suitable for all participants
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness in the kitchen and food areas
• Follow food hygiene regulations and allergy protocols
• Safely store and manage food supplies
• Shopping or ordering food supplies before and during the trip

The trip to Norfolk takes place 23 – 27 February 2026. The Volunteer Cook will be required to prepare menus and place orders/shop before the trip. During the trip they will be required to prepare meals, including breakfast and dinner. They will liaise with the trip leader regarding timings for meals. The volunteer must have a Southend postcode due to the funding acquired to run this residential trip.
