Wildlife Reserve Volunteers
Do you enjoy the outdoors? Volunteers are needed to help maintain our the grounds of our nature reserve in Barling. PPE provided. Can you spare some time on Friday morning to help?
About this opportunity from Barling Magna Wildlife Reserve
Barling Magna is a 14 acre site which has been restored and maintained by the Parish Council. It has a need for volunteers to assist in various activities including cutting pathways to keep them passable, clearing scrub and areas around small trees, keeping the barn maintained and the car park and pathways safe to use. There is tending the meadow area with cutting of the long grasses in the late summer. Felling and tidying up dead or dying trees, repairing fences and tending a nursery area with donated and sapling trees ready for planting in the autumn.
There are two senior volunteers and another 3 volunteers who attend site on a Friday morning between 8am and 1pm.
PPE of Hi Vis tunics, gloves and safety glasses are provided and addition PPE dependant on work being carried out are available.
Each volunteer would need to be appropriately dressed dependant on the weather with stout boots or shoes, advised to wear long trousers due to nettles and brambles, and hats and long sleeved tops as required.
There is a single toilet and a kitchen area with mains water and a gas hob for making hot drinks.
This would be an ideal role for a group of volunteers, but individuals welcome too.
No skills but need to be active.
