This is an opportunity to help our carers fill out their Online Benefit Claim Forms, over the telephone, or out in the community and make a real difference to people's lives.

About this role
You will be supporting unpaid carers to complete paper or online benefit claim forms which help to maximise their income. This may be on the phone, online or out in the community.
What we need from you
• A willingness to take on the training required for this role
• As part of our volunteer recruitment process, we will ask for references and will complete a DBS check
• The hours are flexible, depending on how much time you would like to give
• Sometimes we will ask you to meet clients face to face, and so a willingness to travel would be good (we would only ask you to travel as far as you’re happy to)
What training and support will you receive?
• We will provide you with training on the relevant benefits, and teach you the skills required to complete benefit claim forms
• You will also need to do some e-learning to cover mandatory topics such as safeguarding and GDPR
• There are opportunities for ongoing training, usually provided online, in other topics
• You will have a supervisor who will provide ongoing support
• We hold regular virtual volunteer drop-ins as well as celebration events throughout the year
• We will pay expenses you incur as part of this role, including travel

We are a registered charity commissioned by local authorities in Medway, London, Lincolnshire, Essex, Southend. We provide mandatory safeguarding and GDPR training online and have numerous other training modules available to volunteers. We are happy to meet volunteers online or in person to make the recruitment process easier.
