Are you a carer/volunteer who can commit time to become a Peer Support Group volunteer to help run our monthly Men’s Meet-up and support other male carers.

Carers First is looking for carers/volunteers who can commit time to become a Peer Support Group volunteer to help run our monthly Men’s Meet-up.

These groups aim to reduce the social isolation experienced by male carers; provide opportunities to spend time with other male carers, share experiences, build positive peer networks, provide respite from their role, and overall improve their wellbeing.

Duties:

  • Be involved with Carers First to promote the groups available to Carers.
  • Support the male carers attending the peer group in a professional and inclusive manner.
  • Communicate and listen in a non-judgemental and positive way.
  • Ensure you keep confidentiality where appropriate with conversations.
  • Support in planning and organising group session

    • Experience in facilitating a group is desirable but not essential.
    • Good listening skills
    • Good communication skills
