About this opportunity from Southend Pride

Join Team Pride and make Pride fabulous. It’s a great way to make friends, learn new skills and make a difference. We’re recruiting so sign up today!

Southend Pride is passionate about equality and diversity and all of our events support inclusion, raise awareness and are open to all members of the community. Any funds we raise go directly to running Pride events within Southend.

Around 50 people volunteer to keep Southend Pride successful. We are always looking to add to our diversity and are especially keen to receive applications from the BAME, Trans, Bi, Non-binary and Queer communities.

On the day we need-

Parade Marshalls – in order to run our parade we need around 30 people to put on a high vis and help marshal the parade goers along the high street. The role asks that you either stand or walk along the route ensuring people safely cross any roads, being vigilant for anyone who is in distress or trouble, ensuring they get support or assistance as needed, and keeping people moving up the high street route. We will muster around 11am and estimate the parade will be concluded by 1.30pm.

Merch sellers and collectors – We need around 30 people to support us with selling Southend Pride merch and shaking a bucket at the various venues that are supporting Southend Pride. This can be done in addition to the Parade Marshall role and can be all day or just a short session, let us know when you can manage.

if you have never volunteered before, are a little shy or nervous don’t worry we have you covered there is full training and a small social before and after the event to make you feel as special as you are.
