Schoolreaders

Schoolreaders need volunteers to go into local primary schools in a range of areas across Essex during the school day to listen to the children read to them 1:1.

Schoolreaders is a national literacy charity dedicated to helping children improve their reading and comprehension skills. 1 in 4 children are currently leaving primary school below the expected reading level which can have a negative life-long impact. By volunteering with Schoolreaders, individuals can make a meaningful difference in a child’s life.
What are Schoolreaders looking for?
They are looking for volunteers across Essex to provide one-on-one reading support to children in local schools.

Skills
Volunteers need to be over 18, have a good level of spoken and written English and enjoy spending time with children. Volunteers need to be able to commit to a minimum of one hour each week for a full year, although holidays can of course be taken.
