Co- facilitating Parent and Child Domestic Abuse Recovery Group

We are looking for volunteers to help facilitate our groups for parent & children and young people (5-12 years) Could you help support our participants’ emotional well-being, engagement and progress ?

Together we Thrive is an 8-week recovery programme, for children and young people (5-12 years)or children and young people (5-12 years) to understand the importance of keeping themselves safe, regulate their emotions, identify their trusted adult and build on their self-esteem.

Together we can is an 8-week recovery programme, for non-abusing parent. During this programme non abusing parent will have a better understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on their child/ren and young people, understand how to communicate and connect with the child/young person.

Role Purpose
The Co-Facilitator will work closely with the Lead Facilitator to support participants’ emotional well-being, engagement, and progress throughout the 8-week journey.

Key Tasks:
• Co-facilitate weekly 2-hour sessions, helping to deliver structured content and activities
• Assist in setting up the room/space and preparing materials before each session
• Help create a welcoming, safe, and non-judgmental environment for children and parents.
• Encourage respectful group interaction and support peer engagement
• Be present and emotionally available to participants during sessions
• Attend pre-session briefings and post-session debriefs with the team
• Maintain appropriate boundaries and always uphold confidentiality
• Collecting feedback from participants at the end of group programme.
• Raise any concerns or safeguarding issues promptly to the programme coordinator or safeguarding lead

Commitment

Both parent and child recovery groups are 8 weeks, there must be a commitment to 8 weeks. Parent group duration: Approx 3-3.5 hours per week, (2hrs duration for the group and additional 30–60 minutes for preparation and debrief) Children group duration: Approx 2-2.5 hours per week (1hr duration for the group and additional 30-60 minutes for preparation and debrief)

Volunteers are expected to attend a short induction and training session prior to the programme start
