Do you have a good sense of humour and like a good chat? Volunteer as a Conversation Partner and enjoy helping our clients with therapy exercises, games, quizzes as well as good conversation.
About this opportunity from Speech & Language Therapy Service South East Essex Community Health Care
To help trained Speech and Language Therapy staff facilitate communication between groups of people who have an acquired or progressive neurological diagnosis ( i.e. Stroke or Parkinson’s).
You will be helping with therapy exercises, as set by the Speech and Language Therapy staff, this may include worksheets, leading conversations, observation of people in group, social interaction such as game playing, quizzes etc.
Helping tidying up at the beginning and end of each session, no heavy lifting required.
Helping with taking off, putting on outer clothing.
You will be required Tuesday afternoons fortnightly, and all day (can be split into 2 sessions am and pm ) on a Thursday’s 4 x annually.
You will need to be able to make your own way to and from the venue in Leigh on Sea/Hadleigh.
