Events Volunteer
Come and join the CASS team and help organise our event for mental health week in May in the centre of Southend. Other events include Garons Park in July.
About this opportunity from Counselling and Support Services Southend
CASSS helps to improve counselling and community therapy services, in and around Southend. The Events Volunteer will be working as part of an events team to help to organise and run mental health events organised by the charity. This includes our event in the Victoria Shopping Centre, as part of Mental Health Awareness week in May. This event is one of our main events of the year, helping various therapy agencies to connect to the public and offer advise and support on various mental health matters. As such the volunteer will help to make a big difference, to the mental health of the community. It is also a great opportunity to develop skills and contacts in the mental health sector.
The volunteer will be responsible for working with the Therapeutic Coordinator and the other events volunteers, in preparing for the event. Working as part of a team to communicate with agencies and the venue, prior to the event. They will also be responsible for helping to organise and run the event on the day. They will communicate with attending agencies, the venue and the service manager, in advance of and on the day, to help coordinate attendance at the event. Answer enquiries and forward on problems, as they arise.
CASSS also attends a large health and wellbeing event at Garons Park in Southend every summer at the end of July. The volunteer will be required to attend on the day and help to set up and man the stall, talking to the public about mental health enquiries. Other mental health events are planned in the future.
This role offers the chance to help develop team working and organisation skills, confidence, being responsible and proactive, develop problem solving skills and communication skills. It is also a fantastic chance to develop excellent links with community therapy and mental health services, if this is of interest. This role is especially useful, for those who would be interested in working in this sector.
