Why we want you

We’re looking for volunteers to assist our reception team at Fair Havens. To welcome our patients, families and visitors in a friendly manner.

What you will be doing

 

  • Greeting all visitors/families warmly and offer assistance where necessary
  • Answering telephone promptly and politely then transfer call to appropriate extension, taking messages and passing them on efficiently, verbally, written or by email
  • Receiving and ensuring correct distribution of all incoming mail, donations and other deliveries
  • Maintaining security for the Hospice buildings by providing staff and visitor passes
  • Direct visitors within the Hospice appropriately, escorting if necessary
  • Check and manage reception diary
  • To take card payments
  • To follow the fundraising donation process ensuring donations (cash & items) are handled appropriately and stored safely
  • To ensure that the reception area is always kept clean, tidy, uncluttered and free from obstruction
  • To undertake additional administration duties as appropriate (such as printing and photocopying)
  • If required and able to support with sickness and holiday cover in addition to regular shifts
  • Any other reasonable duties designated by the Volunteer Coordinator

 SKILLS

  • Good administration skills and able to use IT software
  • Confident telephone manner
  • Attention to detail
  • You will be able to communicate effectively
  • You will be able to work well within a team environment but also you may be required to work alone
  • A good standard of written and spoken English
  • Understand and maintain confidentiality

We are looking for a minimum time commitment of four hours a week; this would be on a set day Monday – Friday
