Family Mediators
Could you have what it takes to become a family mediator? This is a very worthwhile and rewarding role. Ideal for those interested in social care roles
About this opportunity from Parents Aid
Our volunteers will be fully trained to take on mediation work with families who have issues that they wish to resolve. It is envisaged that the training course will fully equip the volunteers to take on various issues and challenges that might occur, confident in the knowledge that they have the full support and back-up of the Charity. Client groups that volunteers will be working with are families and children at risk of social exclusion.
The interaction with the clients can be very worthwhile and rewarding, and a positive experience to learn from. The experience is valuable for anyone seeking to enter a social-work related profession.
Volunteers are required Monday to Friday during the day. Opportunities for evening volunteering is very limited.
Please note: Due to the popularity and expedience of this approach, Parents’ Aid has continued with remote service delivery following the pandemic and currently all services and training is delivered by zoom, or a parallel platform, except where face-to-face service delivery is specifically requested by the family, in which case arrangements will be made to accommodate the particular needs of the case.
SKILLS
No formal qualifications are required. Good listening and communication skills are however essential, as is a genuine desire to work with famililies in a non-judgemental and confidential manner. Maturity and life skills are welcome, as is an ability to work as part of a team.
