About this opportunity from Mendip Community Garden

We are urgently seeking someone with gardening experience to help with the restoration of the garden. This would ideally suit a retired gardener but as long as you know a Rose from a Dandelion and a weed from a tree……..
You will be in charge of our small group of volunteers who currently attend the garden on Thursday afternoons. Until recently when we lost our previous gardener, (In the undergrowth!), the garden was open for volunteering on a Tuesday and Thursday which is what we would like to get back to.
We have interest from numerous bodies who would like to use the area including local schools, the NHS, the local church, and organisations that provide us with volunteers already as well as those from the local community.
If you can spare the time we are sure you will find this a worthwhile and enjoyable project that will benefit the local are and community as well as give you a rewarding opportunity to use your skills.

Skills

Ideally you should have some gardening experience, either landscape or general but even if you only have experience in refurbishing your own garden but a wide knowledge of gardening why not get in touch?

Commitment

We are grateful for anytime you can spare but at the moment we have volunteers in the garden on a Thursday afternoon between 2 - 5 so this would be ideal. Our aim is to go back to having the garden open on 2 afternoons per week (Tuesdays and Thursdays), for volunteering while we are refurbishing the area but we can be flexible to accommodate any time you can give us. We will reimburse you for any expenses you incur in volunteering for us and as a small charity we have various policies in place and also full Public Liability Insurance. We are currently applying for full charity status which will allow us to seek larger amounts of funding for the garden.
