The Southend-on-Sea Darby and Joan Organisation is a charity with a long history of helping the elderly and those in need in the Southend area. For almost 80 years, the charity has provided accommodation for those who need it and more recently we have become specialists in dementia care for those over the age of 65. We operate a large care home in Westcliff-on-Sea and have just launched a new day care service from the home.

We are looking for trustees to join our board. Being a trustee means that you will have independent control over, and legal responsibility for, the charity’s management and administration. We are looking for people to join our board who have a range of experiences including business development, finance, and fundraising. You will also need the time to attend quarterly board meetings.

This is an incredibly rewarding role and whilst unpaid, you will be joining a close-knit team at an exciting time in the charity’s history. We have recently approved a new 5 year strategy and new trustees will have a crucial role in leading and implementing these plans.

Some knowledge of the care sector, experience of working in finance, fundraising or business development/planning would be useful, however, we recognise that different skills sets and life experiences will add value to our charity.
