Being a Virtual Buddy gives our disabled people a way to make friends, building their confidence and trying new skills. We match our volunteers' interests to ensure you both enjoy your time together

About this opportunity from Sense

The programme will bring you together with a Sense individual, with your match based on shared interests, communication methods, and the skills and experiences you bring. Once matched, you will get to know each other remotely via video calls or phone calls.

 

  • Passionate about Sense and our belief in supporting people with complex disabilities to communicate and experience the world
  • A skilled communicator who is able to adopt different methods to enable communication with people with complex communication needs and multi-sensory impairments
  • Enthusiastic, cheerful, with a positive attitude
  • Patient, warm and friendly
  • Reliable, trustworthy and committed to providing support to those who need it at this time
  • A competent user of technology e.g. use of social media platforms / online conferencing (Zoom – we will provide you with training, but prior knowledge would be beneficial)
  • Good at planning and organisation (in order to plan and run sessions)
  • Respectful of others and their experiences and background; creating an inclusive and welcoming environment
