Cooking Workshop Volunteer
Would you like to pass on your love of cooking? Join our team and introduce adults to a fantastic new life skill. In return you will get to work as part of a friendly and relaxed team.
About this opportunity from Southend City Baptist Church (57 West)
We are looking for Team Leaders to help with the cooking course we are providing. Your role would be to assist the person delivering the session by helping the participants to follow a recipe or with anything they need support in. The participants have recently been housed in supported living and are often but not always addicts or ex offenders that are trying to find their feet after a difficult time in their lives. You role would be to support them in cooking but to also help make them feel at ease. The recipes we make are basic home cooking and the atmosphere is always laid back. The guys cook their own meal and the person cooking will cook for the volunteers and then we all sit and eat together. All our Volunteers must be over 18 as we are an adult only environment.
Experience working with Vulnerable Adults is a bonus but not compulsory. You do not need any qualifications only empathy and compassion. You will also need to be willing to undergo a DBS check at our expense. Safeguarding training will be provided as will the chance to undergo other training opportunities as and when they arise
