Volunteer Trustee – Safeguarding, Education or Digital Skills

Are you experienced in safeguarding and would like to become one of our founding trustees, helping us to remove barriers to learning. Lived experience matters to us as much as professional expertise.

About this opportunity from Nestling Learning Charity

Nestling Learning Charity is a new UK Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO in formation – we are applying to the Charity Commission and are not yet registered). Our aim is to remove financial barriers to early childhood education by giving families, nurseries and communities across the UK completely free EYFS and KS1 learning tools, games and printable resources, with a particular focus on underserved communities. Our founding independent Board of Trustees is coming together, with a Chair and a Treasurer already in place, and we are now looking for one more trustee to strengthen it.

The role
Our board already has strong finance skills. What we need now is someone who brings a different perspective, so the board has a good mix of skills and can keep going if anyone has to step back. You don’t need to cover everything – experience in any one of these areas is enough:
– Safeguarding and child protection, including keeping children safe online
– Education or child development, for example early years, family support, health visiting or speech and language
– Digital, marketing or online safety, for example websites, social media, communications or privacy

As a founding trustee, working with your fellow trustees and our founder, you will:
– Take part in board decisions and help set the charity’s strategy and priorities
– Bring your experience to how we design, check and share our free learning tools, so they are safe, useful and easy for families to find
– Help us put good policies in place (such as safeguarding and online safety) and meet our duties to the Charity Commission
– Depending on your background, you might become the board’s lead for safeguarding, or help us reach more families online
– Act as an ambassador for the charity

How we work
Board meetings are held on Google Meet, often at weekends. We use AI tools to capture meeting minutes and action points, so you can focus on the discussion rather than taking notes. Board members will always review and approve the minutes.

About you
– Experience in safeguarding, education or child development, or digital, marketing or online safety – paid, voluntary or lived experience all count
– Thoughtful, practical and happy to share your views in a small team
– Passionate about fair access to early learning
– Previous trustee experience is not needed – we will support you
– Must be independent of Nestling Studios Ltd

What you’ll gain
– The chance to shape a young charity from the very start, as a founding trustee
– Board-level experience that is valued by employers, alongside support from the rest of the board
– A flexible, home-based role that fits around work and family life

We warmly welcome applicants from all backgrounds, especially people from groups under-represented on charity boards, including young people and people from the communities we serve. Lived experience matters to us as much as professional expertise.

How to apply
Email your CV and a short expression of interest to hello@nestlinglearning.org.uk, telling us which area of experience you would bring. We’re happy to have an informal chat first – just email us or message us on WhatsApp: 07749893554 (WhatsApp only, please, not calls).
